Iceland is a Nordic island country, located in the North Atlantic Ocean. This country is known for its vast landscape, ranging from geysers to volcanoes to hot springs to lava fields and more. Plus, I’m sure you’ve heard that you can see the magnificent Northern Lights in Iceland. There are also beautiful national parks here that you won’t want to miss on your trip. Iceland is full of so many amazing destinations, but it can be tricky to pick the best place to stay. Luckily for you, I’ve compiled a list of the best Airbnbs in Iceland!

How to Get to Iceland

Iceland is located way up North in the Atlantic Ocean. Unless you already live in Iceland (which would be so cool!), you’ll have to fly there. In this case, you’ll fly into the Keflavík International Airport (airport code: KEF). This airport is about a 45-minute drive from Iceland’s capital, Reykjavik. This is where most of Iceland’s population lives, and you can find some great museums here about Iceland’s viking history.

How to Get Around Iceland

Some of Iceland’s main cities have a bus system that you can use for public transportation. But I’d highly recommend renting a car or van during your stay, especially if you plan on going to Iceland’s more rural areas.

There are several car rental companies right by the airport, as well as multiple car rental companies in Reykjavik. This is easily the best way to get around Iceland, as it allows you the maximum amount of flexibility. Pay attention to if you’ll need a 4×4 vehicle or not depending on where you plan on visiting.
