Where is Jamaica?

Jamaica is an island in the Caribbean, south of Cuba, west of Haiti, and east of Mexico. It’s really close to the United States and perfect for a quick getaway or a longer beach vacation.

The main area to fly into to visit the all inclusive resorts is Montego Bay. The airport in Montego Bay is called Sangster International Airport (airport code: MBJ). Montego Bay can be reached nonstop from most major cities like New York, Miami, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, and more. You may have to make 1-stop if you’re coming from West Coast destinations.

Another airport you can fly into is in Kingston, Jamaica, which is actually the country’s capital city. There’s only one real circumstance where I would recommend flying into Kingston over Montego Bay, but we’ll talk more about that in a little bit.

Areas in Jamaica with Best All-Inclusive Resorts

Jamaica may seem like a tiny island, but it’s actually 7-8 hours from one end of the island to the other. The best part about that? It means there are lots of beaches to relax on!

In Jamaica, there are 3 main areas I want to mention when it comes to all-inclusive resorts: Montego Bay, Negril, and Ocho Rios. Montego Bay is the central point (although it’s mostly on the West side of Jamaica), Negil is all the way on the West Coast, and Ocho Rios is further East on the Northern Central coast.

If you remember from before, I mentioned you’ll most likely fly into Montego Bay. You’ll find the most flights into Montego Bay and it’s a central point which is why this airport is best. Resorts in the Montego Bay/Falmouth area are within a 45-minute drive of the airport. Resorts in Negril or Ocho Rios are about 1.5 hours from the Montego Bay airport (Negril to the West, Ocho Rios to the East).

Ocho Rios is a little bit closer to the Kingston airport compared to the Montego Bay airport. If you find a great flight deal to Kingston, I would suggest staying in one of the resorts in Ocho Rios as it’s only an hour away from the Kingston airport.

Now that we’ve done a quick overview about the areas in Jamaica for all-inclusive adults only resorts, let’s talk about the resorts themselves!

The Best Adults Only All-Inclusive Resorts in Montego Bay, Jamaica

Montego Bay is where most of the resorts are. Since Montego Bay is where the airport is, you’ll want to stay here if you want to avoid any longer transfers once you arrive in Jamaica. Most of the resorts are within maybe a 30 minute drive from the airport. The only exception to this is any resorts in Falmouth. Falmouth isn’t technically Montego Bay, but due to its proximity to Montego Bay I’m lumping the two together.

Excellence Oyster Bay ($$$) – Excellence is an incredible resort in Jamaica. The brand might look familiar as they have other resorts in Mexico and the Dominican Republic. Oyster Bay is the newest addition to the Excellence family and it’s a top notch option. They have really unique rooms at this resort, including rooms with private pools and with private rooftop terraces.

PERFECT FOR: Honeymooners, couples celebrating a special occasion, and travelers who prefer larger suites.

Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort & Private Island ($$$$) – You’ll see Sandals resorts come up quite a bit here and for good reason: they are top-notch all-inclusive luxury properties. As if this resort’s private island wasn’t enough to make you want to stay here, this resort has overwater bungalows which are very hard to come by in the Caribbean. Sandals has another resort in Montego Bay, Sandals Montego Bay, but Sandals Royal Caribbean takes the cake because of the overwater bungalows.

PERFECT FOR: Honeymooners, couples celebrating a special occasion, and travelers who want to stay in overwater bungalows.

Secrets Wild Orchid Montego Bay ($$$) – Secrets is a popular resort brand when it comes to all inclusive resorts in the Caribbean and this resort is no exception. There’s another Secrets right next door, Secrets St. James, but I prefer Secrets Wild Orchid. You can go back and forth between both resorts, but Wild Orchid is closer to all the restaurants making it the more appealing resort. Additionally, if you stay in one of the Preferred Club rooms at this resort, you’ll have access to visit another sister resort across the way, Breathless Montego Bay, which is known for their nightlife.

PERFECT FOR: Honeymooners, couples, destination weddings, and friend groups.

Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall ($$$) – This resort is one of Hyatt’s few all inclusive resorts in the Caribbean. While the resort isn’t directly run by Hyatt, you’ll find all the familiar positive qualities about Hyatt hotels in this resort. Additionally, the resort is right next door to a family friendly hotel, Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall, in case you’re traveling with people who have kids.

PERFECT FOR: Friend groups, destination weddings, and multi-generation families.

Iberostar Grand Rose Hall ($$$) – Iberostar is another beautiful beachfront resort in Montego Bay. The parent company is owned by Spain, so you definitely get a Spanish taste in this hotel. Similar to the Hyatt, this hotel has sister properties for families right next door that you’re able to venture over to during your stay.

PERFECT FOR: Friend groups, destination weddings, and multi-generation families.

The Best Adults Only All-Inclusive Resorts in Negril, Jamaica

Negril is arguably one of the most beautiful beach towns in all of Jamaica, featuring the famous 7 Mile Beach. From the Montego Bay airport, Negril is about a 1.5 hour drive. Negril sits on the West Coast of Jamaica. If beaches are really, really important to you, Negril is exactly where you want to stay. Negril is known for its laid back vibe, so this is the ultimate place for relaxation.

Couples Swept Away ($$$) – Couples Swept Away is the ultimate resort for beach lovers. The resort is set on the famous 7 Mile Beach. Another one of my favorite parts about Couples resorts is that even activities are included, such as sunset catamaran cruises and snorkeling tours.

PERFECT FOR: Beach lovers and couples celebrating a special occasion.

Sandals Negril ($$$$) – It’s no surprise another Sandals is making it to the list. In fact, Sandals has more resorts in Jamaica than anywhere else as it’s the birthplace of the brand. This stunning resort is set on 7 Mile Beach, so beach lovers will thrive here. If you’re wanting to have a super luxurious experience, choose a butler suite to get your 24/7 personal butler.

PERFECT FOR: Food lovers, honeymooners, couples, and beach lovers.

Couples Negril ($$$) – Couples resorts are some of the best in Jamaica. Couples Negril is the brand’s most intimate resort. Whether you want to lay on the beach or be active, this resort is a great option. Plus, this resort has an Au Naturel Beach if you’re feeling a little risque.

PERFECT FOR: Couples and friend groups.

The Best Adults Only All-Inclusive Resorts in Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Similar to Negril, Ocho Rios is about a 1.5 hour drive away from the Montego Bay airport. Ocho Rios is also about the same distance from the Kingston airport. If you find a great flight deal to Kingston, you can jump on it and book yourself a resort in Ocho Rios.

Ocho Rios is the adventure capital of Jamaica. There are so many fun activities around the Ocho Rios area. If you can’t sit still on vacation and love activities, Ocho Rios is the perfect spot for you. Ocho is the home of the famous Dunn’s River Falls and the Blue Hole. I highly recommend seeing these spots while you’re visiting, like on this tour you can book here. You can also go river rafting, zip-lining, and even bobsledding! I’ll also be including resorts in Runaway Bay in this section due to its proximity to Ocho Rios.

Sandals Ochi Beach Resort ($$$) – This Sandals resort is a little more private and secluded than the others I’ve mentioned. It’s the perfect escape after a long day of activities in Ocho Rios. But don’t worry, you can find plenty of entertainment here too if that’s what you want. The resort has a new beach club and they even have the Caribbean’s first speakeasy. The resort also offers access to the Sandals Golf & Country Club for guests who want to play a round or two of golf on vacation.

PERFECT FOR: Honeymooners, couples, and golf lovers.

Couples Tower Isle ($$) – Couples Tower Isle is the brand’s flagship resort, so you get the best of Couples here. The resort has its own private island (with an Au Naturel beach for the free souls) and ultra-exclusive Oasis Spa Villas which include unlimited spa treatments.

PERFECT FOR: Hooneymooners, couples, and spa lovers.

Couples Sans Souci ($$) – This resort is tucked between the mountains and the ocean, offering the perfect escape for couples. The resort features its own mineral pool open for guests’ use. The views are incredible because of the resort being built on a bit of a hill and the beach is situated on a perfect cove.

PERFECT FOR: Honeymooners and couples.

Jewel Paradise Cove Beach Resort & Spa ($) – Jewel Paradise Cove is a perfect option for those on a tighter budget. This resort really focuses on a spa and wellness theme and embodies the word “zen.” After a few days of soaking up the sun, you can change things up by going on one of their included tours to places like Konoko Falls or go shopping in Ocho Rios.

PERFECT FOR: Friend groups, fitness lovers, and travelers on a budget.

Other Standout Resorts in Jamaica

Now that we’ve covered the adults only all-inclusive resorts in Jamaica throughout Montego Bay, Negril, and Ocho Rios, I want to mention two other standouts. These two resorts don’t technically fall into the categories mentioned above, but I think they deserve a mention because they’re great options if you’re looking for something a little different.

Sandals South Coast ($$$$) – Sandals South Coast is my favorite Sandals resort in all of Jamaica. It’s in the Whitehouse area of Jamaica on the Southern Coast, which is basically a straight shot down from Montego Bay. This resort also features overwater bungalows. If that isn’t enough, they also have an overwater Chapel for those wanting to get married in Jamaica.

PERFECT FOR: Honeymooners, destination weddings, and travelers who want to stay in overwater bungalows.

Hideaway at Royalton Negril ($$) – Royalton Negril is a family friendly resort, but the Hideaway at Royalton Negril is their adults only section. Think of it this way – it’s a resort within a resort. There’s a separate entrance, pool, bar, beach area, and restaurant for Hideaway guests only. You could easily go the entire vacation without seeing any kids because of how separated this area is from the rest of Royalton Negril.

PERFECT FOR: Multi-generational groups, destination weddings, and travelers on a budget.

That Sandals private island looks stunning! And probably well out of my price range, but I can always dream right?

The overwater bungalows are definitely pricey, but the resort itself isn't always that bad! And the best thing is, if you wanted to stay in an overwater bungalow but don't have enough budget to do it the entire stay, you can always do it like 2-3 nights on the end of the trip and stay in a different type of room the rest of the time, ya know? Makes it a lot more affordable!

Aren't they incredible?? I'm so dying to stay in one of these overwater bungalows! It's so nice to know if you want to you don't have to fly half way around the world to Bora Bora or the Maldives to stay in one. These ones are sooo close to the US!
